The North East Charity Awards are returning this year, but as with many events in 2020, we are going virtual! With the continuing restrictions and social distancing measures, we’ve unfortunately had to put a stop to the normal Gala Awards Dinner that has become a highlight of the North East’s events calendar.
However, we are determined to still celebrate and recognise the work of our North East charities and social enterprises, together with the businesses and individuals that support them. They deserve it – now more than ever.
Building on the huge success of the last five years of these high-profile awards, and in partnership with our associate sponsor, Brewin Dolphin, we’re awarding winners across all ten of the usual award categories in a special Awards Event to be held across social media on Thursday 3rd December 2020.
The Awards are designed to recognise the hard work and innovative thinking by our local charities and individual fundraisers, increase awareness of our local charities, celebrate those who work tirelessly to support the many good causes in our region and also celebrate the local businesses and individuals who help support the work of our charities.

Categories
We’d like you to tell us your story... Below is a full list of the categories for 2020 together with a brief description on each award and some helpful tips on what the judging panel may be looking for. You’ll see that some categories are specifically focused towards the corporate sector, and the others are more charity focused. The judges have many entries to read so make your nomination concise - keep your answers as short as possible but make sure you get all your relevant points in! And remember, you can either nominate others or nominate yourselves for these awards.
The Judges
Our judging panel is made up of key representatives from the North East corporate and voluntary sectors. The panel met (virtually!) in early November to discuss all the entries and had the hard task of deciding on their top three contenders for each award category.
